Madame Mo, furious with her вЂњnephewвЂ™sвЂќ arrival, orders her husband to return вЂњMo XuanyuвЂќ to his room. He discovers that the group of cultivators are junior disciples from the GusuLan sect, one of the four great sects and one that Wei Wuxian has had dealings with in his past.

He then realizes that he is hungry because Mo XuanyuвЂ™s spiritual energy is insignificant and he has never practiced inedia. Surfacing from his meditation, he finds that he is still lightheaded and wonders as to why he cant control this body. When asked, a-Tong said he did not see what the creature was. Rushing outside, they found a still alive a-Tong and a dead and whithered Master Mo who was missing an arm. Wei Wuxian spoke up for them instead and told Madame Mo that the disciples are not her servants and were here to help her for free. The disciples, having grown up under GusuLanвЂ™s lessons of strict self-restraint, did not talk back. With his death, one of the cuts on Wei WuxianвЂ™s wrist had disappeared.Д®nraged, Madame Mo turned to the Lan Disciples and started berating them. The flag had attracted an unknown being that had killed Mo Ziyuan and taken his arm. Wei Wuxian checked Mo ZiyuanвЂ™s body and discovered that he had taken one of the Spirit Lure FlagвЂ™s that the Lan Disciples had set up and warned that no one was to go near. Madame Mo claimed the corpse of Mo Ziyuan as evidence that Wei Wuxian murdered him, as it was missing its left arm, referencing the threat made earlier in regards to Mo ZiyuanвЂ™s theft. As Wei Wuxian scrutinized the corpse, Madame Mo pulled a dagger and attempted to kill him for her sons death, but was intercepted by Lan Sizhui. In the hall was a sorrowful Madame Mo and the wrinkled and aged body of Mo Ziyuan, which looked as if it had his blood and flesh sucked out of him. Wei Wuxian was dragged to a crowded hall by the mob of people. вЂњWho do you think youвЂ™re taking out your anger on? Did you really see them as your servants?
